Playa Guiones offers a very consistent and forgiving break that is both great for learning the basics and for developing more advanced skills. The reasons we all keep returning are simple. Many had been going there since Rick Walker first opened the school at Playa Guiones sometime in the previous century. On our first trip we were immediately impressed by the large number of returning guests. We have made many trips to Corky Carroll’s over the last few years. I highly suggest that it is on everyone’s bucket list.
We have already booked the dates and got our airfare. Our family had such an awesome trip that we are going back again next year. I didn’t have to do any planning or prepping. They are amazing!!! Having someone prepare the meals was one of my favorite parts of the trip. It was very reassuring that each room had an attached safe in it for our special belongings. We even rented a car to go up the coast to Tamarindo for the day. From our place, we were able to walk to the beach or into town.

Collin helped up make arrangements for fishing and zip lining. The grounds were so pretty and well groomed. It was so nice to have a ride waiting for us at the airport to shuttle us to Nosara. What a wonderful word to describe our visit to Corky Carroll’s Surf School in Costa Rica. It was truly a delight to be around such an amazing, loving family and being treated like their own. We enjoyed our stay SO much, we booked our next trip within the following month of getting home. We even brought back some Red Snapper we caught on our fishing trip and they cooked it up for Dinner & Lunch the following day. When we did go out to dinner, it wasn’t nearly as good as the food that was served at home base. We ate like kings the entire trip at the surf school. (The hammocks are by far the best place to nap!) The food was AMAZING. Throughout our trip we went fishing, surfing, hiking, and also did a great amount of relaxing at Corky Carroll’s in-between all the adventuring. They made the entire process easy and manageable, even for my travel-challenged parents. Being in a new country for my first time, I was extremely nervous and not sure what to expect. Corky Carroll’s Surf School was so warm and welcoming to our family on vacation last year! Their hospitality, friendliness, and all around genuine compassion towards us was above and beyond what I could have expected.
